Marc Scibilia was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. Both his father and grandfather were professional musicians but had other vocations to support families. By six, Scibilia took to the piano, which would become his main instrument and primary tool for writing. Inspired by a frustrated high school teachers passing comment, ”What are you going to do, move to Nashville and write songs?’ one month out of high school (2004), Scibilia headed to “Music City”. In 2009 he picked up the guitar in earnest – it was easier to bring to gigs than a piano – and found that he had a real feel for the instrument. Rarely does a brand-new artist emerge fully formed, but when it does happen – as evidenced on Marc Scibilia’s bracing six-song debut EP on Hickory Records – the result is stunning.
